Samantha DeLenardo, President
Samantha completed a Master’s in Health Communication at the University of Ottawa where she also competed for five years on the women’s varsity hockey team. Her academic work explored the function of stigma within a competitive athletic setting. Samantha is a family member of a person with lived experience and has been touched by the many people who’ve come forward to share their personal stories since the foundation of SAMHI. Samantha volunteers her time for SAMHI, while working full-time at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Canada’s largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital.
Cassie Sparks, Community Engagement Coordinator
Cassie completed a Master’s in Sport and Exercise Psychology at the University of Ottawa, and her Doctoral degree in Sport Science, Exercise and Health. Cassie played varsity women’s hockey at Queen’s University and University of Ottawa, where she faced the pressures and stress associated with managing both school and athletics. After her own sporting experiences and struggles with anxiety, Cassie is committed to promoting the health and wellness of all student athletes.
